Letter from Mr. Jeremy Plumley
Latest News
A welcome correspondence from an ex-officio member of the club.
Firstly I would like to thank the club, and especially Stewart. for welcoming me back. It’s good to see that the Manila LHC is flourishing (even if attendance was down a bit on the night I was there) and I was most impressed with the recent newsletter which Stewart was kind enough to email to me.
The Dubai Chairman and committee send their best wishes to the Manila branch. I think you all know that the Manila Branch has assisted Dubai in getting registered and on behalf of the Dubai Branch we express our thanks for the help and support you’ve given us. We are impressed with your plans to construct a school in Tondo and are happy to make a donation to assist you in this venture.
Our Chairman has also asked me to extend an invitation to all Manila members to any of our functions should you be in Dubai. We generally meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month but recently our regular venue has changed so it’s worthwhile checking first. There is no charge for members as the beer and food is always sponsored (at least until the cash behind the bar runs out which seems to happen earlier each time due to the increase in numbers). We also have the main Christmas Dinner & Dance and the Eddie Ward Dinner in (I think) May. Then there are once a month golf days, a monthly curry night (at which we all have to wear loud shirts otherwise you’re fined) and a few ad hoc social events.
Incidentally, if anyone is thinking about coming to Dubai on a job hunt, the branch can also assist as we have a number of recruitment consultants who are members.
Our committee is also interested in maybe having a joint event with the Manila Branch, possibly somewhere midway and it has been suggested that a golf match somewhere like Sri Lanka or Thailand might be an idea. Think about it. You never know, there might even be interest in organizing a golf tour, or a similarly “cultural event,” to the Philippines.
