Message from the New Chairman

Latest News

As we bid 2006 goodbye, let us take a look at it one last time.

The year began ushering new additions to the Board of Trustees and a great deal of enthusiasm to pursue the club’s goals. The January networking event at Sid’s Sports Bar kicked off a year-long success of the monthly Get-togethers in terms of attendance, membership, funds raised, friendship gained [& perhaps pounds too!] and fun-filled evenings. Only the super typhoon Milenyo was able to put a stop to such a streak. Truly, a Lighthouse event is the E-V-E-N-T!

In October, dashing gentlemen and elegant ladies went to the Hotel Intercontinental to grace the Club’s premier event, the 50th Anniversary Grand Ball. The night’s host, Sir Brian Voyle Morgan, amused the crowd no end while the band The Authority brought out the best of their dancing and partying skills. Attendees were treated to a great dinner and numerous prize-filled raffle draws.

Charity took center stage as Gary Heard presented the club’s planned involvement with the construction of a Container School for the poor children of Tondo. On the CHARITY FRONT, the club lived up as the construction industry charity amidst great challenges through involvement with REHOBOTH Children's Home and ERDA TECH Foudation. Also, the club eventually became heavily involved with the construction of the Container School Project for Tondo children.

The year also marked the release of the first ever issue of the Club's Newsletter at Murphy’s in Makati. A monthly update was also released in September. The newsletter will now be released semi-annually while bi-monthly updates will be sent to all members via emails.

At the Annual General Meeting, Stewart Breakenridge of Parsons Brinckerhoff was elected chairman and is now tasked to continue the lofty ideals of the beloved Club. The club would like to thank Steve Rusling for his immeasurable contributions to the club during his tenure. At the same time, it gladly welcomed, Danny Connally of Rockbottom Sports Bar to the Board of Trustees.

As the year drew to a close, the club was proud to be of assistance to the Dubai Lighthouse Club with their formal incorporation.

What a way to end a truly remarkable year!

The year 2007, with a concerted effort and commitment, can only be a better, bigger and brighter year for Lighthouse Club Manila.
