Lighthouse Club Manila Sponsors Students of ERDA TECH Foundation

Recognizing education’s utmost importance in improving lives of the disadvantaged, Lighthouse Club Manila has been supporting the ERDA TECH Foundation.

The Club has been extending financial support for a time now to some students of the foundation. The families of these students, having no regular source of income, can only give very meager contribution to the school. Hence, they depend mainly on sponsorship [like most ERDA TECH students] in order to continue their education.

In 2006 alone, two students successfully completed their schooling through the Club’s support. The Club is currently sponsoring 6 students – 2 in fifth year, 2 in fourth year and another 2 in third year.

ERDA TECH FOUNDATION is an educational and training institution engaged in empowering socially disadvantaged youth through technical/vocational training under its formal and non-formal training program. The formal program offers a five-year secondary education program for the youth aged 12 to 18 years old with a six-month in-plant training in the fifth and final year.

The school was established in 1993 in response to the need to prepare young people for the world of work as part of its skilled labor force. The foundation believes that proper education and employable skills will enable the youth to find decent employment that will support themselves and their families.
