LIGHTHOUSE CLUB MANILA CHARITIES

Autodesk Donated 125 Revit 2010 Licences
to the Sisters of Mary School

The Charity Committee of Lighthouse Manila Branch had visited the Sisters of Mary to see appropriate Lighthouse participation in supporting the school’s education of construction related students. The visit paved way to one Lighthouse member, Forssman Pacific, to consider and introduce the institution as one of the possible recipients of the Autodesk Educational Charity Program.

On 22 October 2009, Autodesk, a world leader in 2D and 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software strengthens its ground in empowering the future for the Philippines’ architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry with its donation of Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010 software to the Sisters of Mary School in Cavite. This aims to equip secondary-level students with basic technical knowledge about Autodesk Revit Architecture, one of industry’s most advanced 3D design software solutions available today.

Below is the complete Autodesk Education Suite for Architectural and Engineering2010 delivered to the school...this is beyond the 125 Revit 2010 licenses initial commitment.

  1. Autocad 2010
  2. Autocad Architecture, MEP, Sturcture 2010
  3. Autocad Inventor Professional Suite 2010
  4. Autodesk Ecotect Analysis 2010
  5. Autocad Revit MEP, Architecture, Structure Suite 2010
  6. Autodesk 3D’s Mask Design 2010
  7. Autodesk Navisworks Manage 2010

The Sisters of Mary School expressed their overwhelming gratitude to Autodesk, Forssman Pacific and all those other individuals and organizations (including The Lighthouse Club) for the realization of this charity program.

About Sisters of Mary School: Established in the Philippines in 1985, the school, along with a Boystown school also in Silang, offers free education to the poorest of poor children who have graduated primary school in Luzon. On referral by their local Catholic Church, talented children undertake a rigorous assessment before being accepted for a four year High School education, which aims to provide a mix of an academic curriculum along with vocational studies to enable students to enter the workforce and/or progress to higher education. The Girlstown has a capacity of some 3,500 students, who board at the school throughout the academic year which unusually runs from January to December each year, with only 2 weeks off for Christmas and the New Year when students return home. The school is very well endowed, receiving generous donations from around the world, which covers the annual full board education cost of some PHP50-60,000 per student. There are also Girlstown and Boystown schools in Cebu, which provide similar High School opportunities to children from the Visayas and Mindanao.

The Girlstown offers skills training in dress making, industrial sewing machine operation, steno-typing, book keeping, electronics, basic computer systems (including call centre related operations and CADD), and culinary art. The Boystown offers vocational training in electricity and electronics, machine shop and welding, computer technology including CADD, auto-mechanics and driving, and mechanical processes.
